The Leadership Challenges Organizations Face Today
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to talk with business leaders, HR professionals, and executives across many different industries, and I continue to hear many of the same challenges.
Organizations are seeking to retain top talent, prepare future leaders, improve communication, strengthen culture, and create workplaces where employees want to stay and grow.
These aren’t just business challenges; they are fundamentally about people.
They are people challenges.
Why Emotional Intelligence Matters in Leadership
Leadership became associated with strategy, productivity, and results, all which matter. Every organization needs goals, accountability, and clear direction, but none of those things happen without people. Every successful team, healthy culture, and growing organization relies on a leader who connects with others.
When I think about the leaders who had the greatest impact on my own life, I don’t remember them because they were the smartest person in the room. They were the ones who cared about the people. They created an environment where people felt recognized, and as a result, those people were willing to do more.
That is the power of emotional intelligence.
It’s not a leadership trend or buzzword. It is the ability to understand yourself and others and see how your actions affect those around you. It’s how leaders communicate, manage conflict, handle stress, and build trust in their teams.
Leadership Development Is a Learned Skill
The reality is that many people are promoted into leadership positions without ever being taught those skills. They’re exceptional employees and outstanding performers, so naturally they move into management roles. Then they find themselves responsible for leading people, navigating difficult conversations, and building a team culture. That’s often where the struggle begins.
The good news is that leadership can be learned.
I’ve seen it happen countless times. Individuals who were unsure of themselves develop confidence. Leaders shift the way they communicate with their teams. Participants develop stronger relationships, earn promotions, and create positive change within their organizations. None of that happened because they attended a one-day workshop. It happened because they committed to growing as leaders.
BOAR stands apart by offering interactive leadership development programs tailored to real-world challenges. Rather than focusing on a single training event, we provide coaching, accountability, practical application, and a true community of peer leaders who continue learning from one another long after the program begins.
NextGen Evolution Expands to Reno
In August, we will launch our first NextGen Evolution cohort in Reno.
For years, we’ve had the privilege of working with leaders throughout Southern Nevada, and now we’re looking forward to building those same relationships in Northern Nevada. The response has been incredibly encouraging. Organizations recognize that developing leaders isn’t just about preparing for the future, it’s about improving the workplace experience for people today.
As we continue to grow, our mission remains simple: help leaders become the kind of people others want to follow, help organizations create cultures where people thrive, and build a community that understands leadership is about people, not titles.
At the end of the day, leadership has never really been about authority or position.
It has always been about the people.
